This spoon was carved from the horn of an animal, probably a sheep. Spoons carved from horns and antlers were less common than those carved from wood, as wood was more plentiful. This artifact was donated to the Museum in 1935.

This spoon was made by Indians from Vancouver Island, Canada. Carved spoons such as this one sometimes have very elaborately carved handles, giving them extra special cultural or religious significance.
