This is a sunstar! It is a species of starfish in the family Solasteridae. Sunstars are carnivorous, depending on marine invertebrates such as sea snails and sea urchins for their food.

Sunstars get their name from their unique body shape, similar to an ordinary starfish but with more arms. This species of sunstar can be found along the Pacific Coast of the US, as well as in the Sea of Japan. This particular sunstar was taken from the Puget Sound sometime before 1930!
