This necklace was made by tribal members from a part of Washington State along the Columbia River, near Vantage. It was probably made for trade, and donated to the Karshner Center in 1931.
What is it made out of?
The long white parts of the necklace are dentalium shell, and the other pieces are haliotis, also known as abalone.
