This is an egg-case from a sea-snail! Sea-snails reproduce just like their landed counterparts, and lay eggs in these long, winding structures known as cases. Other animals that lay eggs in cases include skates, chimaeras, and some sharks!
Where might it be found?
Egg cases are an adaptation which protects eggs from predators, parasites, and the elements, ensuring a better chance of survival for the animal's young. This egg case was found on a beach in Florida, and was dried in a facility elsewhere.
