Wildlife artist Becci Crowe will be featured at the next Culture & Arts Festival at the Karshner Museum and Center for Culture & Arts beginning at noon on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
The free event is designed for families who want to explore endangered species, conservationism, and related art projects. Family art activities will include:
- Make colorful animal prints, Eric Carle style
- Learn to draw animals using pointillism
- Identify endangered animals with flashcards and world map
- Learn to draw animals realistically
- Animal mask-making
Specializing in wildlife and tribal portrait art, Becci Crowe's desire to study both in their natural world has led to adventurous travel across six continents and over 45 countries including Antarctica, The Amazon, China, India, Nepal, Thailand, Borneo, Russia, and many countries on the African continent.
As an artist, Becci donates her work as well as funds from sales to conservation and wildlife organizations. Traveling to wild places in so many parts of the globe, she's had the opportunity to meet conservationists in action and see, firsthand, not only the wonders of the planet but the challenges to save them.

Visitors to the Karshner Center will meet Becci and learn about her adventures with endangered wildlife, including her work with renowned conservationist, Jane Goodall. At 2:00 p.m., Becci will share her latest adventures with Goodall in the Congo and Polar Bears in the Arctic. At 3:00 p.m., visitors will experience Becci's beautiful artwork and visit with her about style and method.
The PBS television documentary, " As Close As You Dare," has been broadcast all over the world. Visitors will be able to watch the program on the Karshner Center's large screen with surround sound. One can expect to be immersed in the dangers, beauty, and humor of being in wild and remote Africa.
At 4:00 p.m. there will be a raffle drawing for one of Becci Crowe's pieces titled "Windblown Sentry." Valued at $400, this artwork will go home with the winner later in the afternoon. The raffle is sponsored by the non-profit group, Friends of the Karshner Museum and Center for Culture & Arts, a revitalized group of volunteers whose mission is to support the diverse and imaginative exhibits, educational programs, and community events at the Karshner Center.
