This is a Giant Cicada, a species of cicada found largely in South and Central America, and as far north in North America as Southern Texas. Cicadas are known for the distinctive "song" or sound which the male emits from a structure called a tymbal, located on their belly.
What does it eat?
Cicadas feed on tree sap as nymphs, and on other plant fluids as adults.
