Karshner Center receives Golden Apple Award
Posted on 09/05/2019

Each year, KCTS 9 spotlights outstanding achievements in education through the Golden Apple Moments, a program inaugurated by the station in 1992 to honor exceptional teaching and education innovation in Washington State. The Karshner Museum and Center for Culture & Arts is among the seven honorees KCTS and PEMCO are recognizing as part of their 2019 program!

What does this mean? It means that KCTS will bring the reach of a major PBS station and its online presence to highlight the good work the Karshner Center is doing to a combined 2.3 million viewers a week. KCTS 9 will produce and present a short video detailing the amazing efforts of the Karshner Museum and Center for Culture & Arts and the students and families of our area. That video starts on September 30, 2019.

The Karshner Museum and Center for Culture and Arts hosted over 195 field trips last year, had five long term exhibits, multiple temporary  exhibits, and Third Thursday Night at the Museum events.  Over 100 students join the Karshner Kids Club who explore the world of culture and the arts through artifacts, special guests, arts projects, and more.  The Karshner Center also produces five to six Culture and Arts Free Family Festivals each year on Saturdays that are jam packed with hands on activities, through dance, music, art and theatre as well as science and more.
